Out of the Loop

Posted on

Ive been feeling out of the loop a little bit. I have been trying to keep my head above water with school, my “normal” job and doing what I love, SEWING! The first thought on my mind as I wake up these days is “I wish I could stay home and sew ALL day!” I then remind myself, all in due time Dom all in due time. I do a lot of self talk lol I figure as long as I dont say these things out loud, or at least no one hears me I am all set right 😉

I posted this photo I found on Pinterest (one of my many crafting addictions) to my Sew U’Nique Shop Facebook this morning. It was a reminder to me to not get lost in all the stuff, but keep my mind on my dreams.

I need more of that self talk that spurs me forward and talks me into keep going. So my wish for you today is that those things you tell yourself are moving you ahead and towards something, and not tying you down and keeping you from following your dreams. XO -Dom

Oh Happy Day

After feeling crummy ALL week it was nice to get a 3 am text saying my sister-in-law was in labor!!!! I got a phone call at 6 am say Cash Daniel Rondeau had arrived after a very short and painless labor, weighing just 6 lbs (small for a Rondeau baby)

Firday Night Sugar High

Posted on

I am flying solo this weekend (The cowboy is out of town for work) I picked up the little cowgirl and her friend from school and brought them home for a sleep over. (It was not really my choice and I was coming down in a major cold, but I put my best foot forward and rolled with the punches.)

The girls decided to walk to the grocery store and spend their savings on CANDY! $20.00 worth of pure sugar and food coloring as a matter of fact. Had I known what they would be buy, I would have encouraged healthier choices.

I had to get picture proof to send to the cowboy and warn him of the night I had ahead of me….

PROOF

He was SHOCKED they spent much, not necessarily the quantity! Made me laugh. Well my night was not so bad. They went to bed around midnight and were up by 9am eating candy in the living room. I opened the fridge this morning to get the milk out for my cereal and I was confronted with half eaten bowls of candy (We are keeping all sugary food in the fridge to ward off ants.) and I died laughing.

Hope everyone has a happy sugary day!

Be Courageous

Posted on Updated on

Courage seems to be a theme for me recently. Courage to follow my dreams, courage to be me, courage to stand up for myself, courage to run forward even though I may not know what’s around the corner, and courage to find myself and my place in the world.

Whenever I think of courage the cowardly lion, from the Wizard of Oz, comes to mind. He is scared in a dramatic and silly way, but I am sure we have all felt that way in some way or another. I still to this day, if I am sleeping alone in the house, turn off the lights and RUN to my room.

Eleanor Roosevelt said,You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’

I urge you to be courageous. If you want to run a marathon? GO FOR IT!!! If you want start a business? Do it! You want to lose weight? YAY!  Nothing is stopping you, but your own fear.

Its a good day to write

My brain is swarming with school, work, sewing, my impending trip to NH, and life, but I wanted to send along some words of encouragement and empowerment.

Going Green

Posted on

Recently the county I live in (San Luis Obispo CA)  has banned plastic bags from use in stores. I ALWAYS forget to bring my bags with me, so I look like a clown as i wobble out to the parking lot trying to balance my groceries and unlock my car.

A few friends have mentioned to me that I should sew some re-usable bags! So I did, and here they are!!!
